Thakurgaon Correspondent: Lecturer Shamim Ahmed started keeping twenty goats as a hobby a year and a half ago. Now his farm has 150 goats with a market value of around Rs 1.5 crore and more.

His annual income is one million taka. His farm has domestic goats as well as foreign breeds of goats. Seeing the success of lecturer Shamim Ahmed, many people are taking advice from him to start a goat farm. Shamim Ahmed, a lecturer at Thakurgaon Road, Ward 12, has set up a goat farm next to his Kalitala area. Hobby goat rearing is now his hobby as it is more profitable at low cost. There are three people to take care of the goats. Lecturer Shamim Ahmed paid three people. He cares for goats and his three families survive. Lecturer Shamim Aham said I started raising ten goats for college students besides studying. In one year, two goats give birth to 6 kids He earns 40,000 taka by selling those goats.

Then there is no decision to farm goats. Then he bought a goat of Black Bengal breed on his own initiative without any advice and built a farm by matching method. Now the farm has 150 goats of four species. Lecturer Shamim Ahmed is keeping goats without any training. He said, ‘I take care of everything from feeding the goats myself. However, my family members also cooperate in this work. Also planted hydroponic grass (grass planted in trays without soil) in the fallow area next to the house. The grass that is the best food for the goats is meeting most of the demand for goat food. ' He added that this is the only animal that has the ability to reproduce twice a year. Gives more than one baby at a time. Diseases are less. Once PPR, Godpox vaccine is given once a year, no more drugs are needed.

So it is possible to earn more at low cost. Where a foreign cow eats 300 rupees a day. And if there is 300 taka, 30 goats can be fed every day. Wheat, corn and gram flour powder as well as soybean and straw are fed as goat's food. Which is very nutritious for goats. Besides, there is a huge demand for goats in the country's market as well as in neighboring India. So it is possible to earn a lot of foreign currency by exporting goats. Lecturer Shamim Ahmed said, ‘People come every day to see my goat farm. They are taking ideas and suggestions from me. They are also interested in setting up a goat farm. ' Siddiqur Rahman, who came to see the farm, said, "I came to see the farm after hearing the news that the goat farm has become self-sufficient.

Also, there is a good demand for goats in the market and the prices are good, so I took various farm advice from him as he has a good profit in goat rearing. I will also build a goat farm like him. ' According to Thakurgaon Upazila Livestock Office, lecturer Shamim Ahmed has been quite successful in raising goats. But he did not take any advice from us. If we take advice, we will regularly visit his goat farm and give him the necessary medicines and all kinds of advice. Now many people are coming to us for advice to build a goat farm. They are being given all kinds of advice.
