Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee's funeral today, Modi's tribute

International Desk: Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will be laid to rest in New Delhi with full state honors. Earlier, the body was laid to rest at the President's residence on Rajaji Marg in Delhi. Leaders and activists of various political parties, including current President Ramnath Kobind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have paid their respects to the body of the former president.

Pranab's last rites are scheduled to be performed at the Lodhi Road mausoleum in Delhi around 2.30 pm on Tuesday. On August 9, Pranab Mukherjee fell in the bathroom of the President's residence on Rajaji Marg in Delhi and sustained a head injury. He died on Monday after nearly three weeks of treatment. The country has declared seven days of national mourning over the death of the 13th President of India. A day of mourning is being observed in Bangladesh today on the demise of the first Bengali President of India, known as a genuine friend of the War of Liberation.

While undergoing treatment, Pranab Mukherjee tested positive for coronavirus. That is why his funeral will follow all the protocols of covid, said Anandabazar. The body will be taken to the crematorium in a special vehicle instead of a military armored vehicle. A picture of him has been kept at Pranab's residence on Rajaji Road to pay homage. Everyone paid homage with flowers in that film. Apart from the President and the Prime Minister, the late President was paid tributes by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Chowdhury, Congress MP Rahul Singh and Congress MP Rahul Singh.
