According to a report by Business Standard, production of iPhone 12 will start in India this year. Apple will save 22 percent import tax on iPhone production in India.

According to Western Corporation, a Taiwan-based iPhone maker, the Indian-made iPhone will hit the market by mid-2021. Western is investing around Rs 2,900 crore to complete the project smoothly. About 10,000 people will have the opportunity to work locally to make an iPhone. Two thousand workers have already been recruited.

Market researchers say Apple's import tax will be saved because of the iPhone in India. As a result, the price may go down a bit. However, there are questions about how much Apple will reduce the price.

Earlier, Apple started assembling iPhone SE series in India from 2016. So far, several iPhone models have been made locally, including the iPhone SE (first generation), iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone XR and iPhone 11. Local production of iPhone SE (second generation) will start soon.
