BRTA instructed to use disinfectant in public transport at the beginning and end of the journey

News Desk: Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has issued an emergency notification regarding the transport of passengers as many seats as the previous fare in public transport. In a notification issued on August 29, BRTA said that from September 1, 2020, as many seats as there are seats in public transport will be used to transport passengers at the previous fare.

Every bus-minibus owner has to use disinfectant before and after the journey. According to the notification, the government has allowed the transport of passengers at the previous fare on as many seats as there are seats in public transport on four conditions.

1. No passengers can be transported in excess of the number of seats.

2. Passengers, drivers, supervisors / conductors, helpers and ticket sales outlets in public transport should be required to wear / use masks and have adequate soap-water / hand sanitizer for hand washing.

3. At the beginning and end of the journey, the buses and minibuses should be cleaned and disinfected with disinfectant. Vehicle owners also need to disinfect passengers' handbags and luggage by spraying them with disinfectant.

4. Other necessary matters related to hygiene in public transport have to be complied with.
