International Desk: Huge amount of gold coins of Islamic golden age were found in Israel. It is learned that gold coins were found in a pitcher during excavations near the Israeli city of Yavan.

This information was given by the Israeli archaeologists on Monday. The Israel Antiquities Authority is responsible for preventing the smuggling of archeological artifacts into Israel. The agency is also involved in archeological excavations, maintenance and research in Israel. A total of 425 "extremely rare" ancient gold coins were found in a joint statement by the Antiquities Authority's two archaeologists, Liat Nadav-Jiv and Eliya Hadad, on Monday.

Each coin is made of pure gold. Most of them date back to the 1100 year old Abbasid period. It is learned that many small pieces of gold coins were found in the recovered assets. According to Israeli experts, these were low-value currencies at the time. The last period of the ninth century was the golden age of the Abbasid Caliphate. The greatest expansion of the empire took place at that time.

Robert Cool, a currency expert at the Antiques Authority, said the signs on the recovered gold coins suggested they were from the Abbasid caliphate. However, he said that more research and analysis is needed in this regard. Much is still unknown about the Abbasid Caliphate. Robert Cool is hopeful that much more unknown information about that time will be known from the recovered gold coins.

Many ancient gold coins and other ancient treasures have been discovered in different parts of Israel at different times before. In 2015, a scuba diver named Javica Fayer found the hidden treasure in the ancient port city of Cesarea. He discovered a huge gold seal while wandering on the bottom of the sea. About two thousand gold seals of the service were discovered. They are known to have been gold coins of the Fatimid era. Source: Times of Israel
