CNI Desk: Iftekhar Hossain Ifti, the only player who was found positive for coronavirus amongst the 45-member Bangladesh Under-19 team, underwent for the test again as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wants to be more accurate in his case.

He gave his sample for the third time on Monday and the result will be available tomorrow (Tuesday), said the senior manager of the national game development Abu Emam Mohammad Kawser.

Ifti was found positive for the virus for the first time but two days after in the second test, he was found negative. To be more sure and precise, Ifti’s sample was taken for the third time, Kawser added.

“He gave his sample today. We had waited for a day before the third Test. The time was running out indeed. Hopefully his result will be found tomorrow after which the medical department will take further action,” he said.

15 cricketers and 12 coaching staff in the first phase on August 16 out of the 45 Under-19 cricketers were tested for the deadly virus in the first phase and no one was found positive.

A total of 15 more cricketers were tested in the second phase among which only Ifti was found positive.

The third and final Test was held on August 20. All 18 cricketers and four coaching staff were found negative. Apart from Ifti, all of the players and supporting staff went straight to BKSP in which the practice camp had already started.
