Kurigram Correspondent: The police have arrested the killer husband Md Shahbuddun Mia (47) for killing his wife in Chilmari, Kurigram. Shahbuddun Mia is the son of Aftab Uddin of Bagua Anantapur area of Hatia Begapara of Ulipur Upazila.
According to the police, with the help of SI Dilip Kumar Roy of Chilmari police station, and officers and forces of Satkania police station, the fugitive accused Md. Shahbuddun Mia was arrested from Baitul Izzat Amtala area of Chadaha union of Satkania police station of Chittagong district on the afternoon of November 27. The arrested accused gave a confessional statement before the learned Court.
On Wednesday (November 29) afternoon, Chilmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Haresul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the accused has been sent to jail through the learned court.
In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police of Ulipur Circle Mohammad Mohibul Islam said that the accused was arrested through secret information and various information technologies. No one will be exempted from committing a crime, he must be punished if he is caught. Kurigram District Police is working to eradicate crime.
It is to be noted that the local village police member Shariful Islam filed a case at Chilmari Police Station as the plaintiff in the case of the strangulation of the housewife Amena Begum on November 6. The killer husband Shahbuddun was absconding since the incident. 17 days before the murder, Shahbuddun, son of Abtab Uddin of Bagua Anantapur area of Hatia Begapara of Ulipur upazila, married neo-Muslim Amena Begum. Shahbuddun was a former BGB member. Convicted for his involvement in the infernal Pilkhana massacre, served 5 years in prison. He married Amena Begum with a cash dowry of one and a half lakh taka 17 days before the murder on the basis of his identity through social media.
After marrying Shahbuddun, Amena Begum did not leave the house unless necessary. She always stayed at home with her husband. On the day of the incident, after noon, the neighbors found the door of the house locked and saw Amena's frozen body inside through the window. Local UP chairman Golam Ashek came to the spot and informed the police. Later, the police came and broke the lock of the door of the house and recovered Amena's body from inside. Since the incident, the killer husband Shahbuddun was absconding.
