A 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook Myanmar

International Desk: The earthquake was felt in Myanmar's main commercial center and former capital Yangon and its surrounding areas. The magnitude of this earthquake was 4.8 on the Richter scale. Residents of Yangon and its surrounding areas felt the tremors at 8:55 p.m. local time on Saturday.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake's epicenter was 39 kilometers north of Yangon and 10 kilometers below the surface. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or damage. Yangon is the largest city in Myanmar.

About 8 million people live in this city. Several hundred thousand people live in other cities adjacent to Yangon. Due to the geological structure, earthquakes are almost a regular natural disaster in this country of 676 thousand 570 square kilometers bordering Bangladesh.
