
Correspondent: Speaker of Bangladesh National Parliament. A delegation of five members led by Pradeep Paudel MP, a member of Nepal's Climate Parliament, paid a courtesy call on Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury MP at his office today.
During the meeting on September 11 (Monday), they discussed Bangladesh-Nepal bilateral friendly relations, parliamentary alliance group, mutual cooperation in power and energy sector, global climate change, regional climate summit and other issues.
Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said, "Regional Climate Summit 2023" sincere participation of representatives of South Asian countries will contribute significantly to combating the adverse effects of climate change in the region. He said that the mutual discussion of the representatives of the climate parliaments of different countries at the regional climate summit can play an important role in solving the climate problems of the countries.
Speaker said, Bangladesh is at risk of adverse effects of climate change. Bangladesh is still not getting the internationally promised cooperation to deal with this risk. He said that the use of renewable energy should be increased to deal with environmental risks.
He said that Bangladesh-Nepal friendly relations will be further strengthened through the mutual visit of the Parliamentary Friendship Group. He said, the extent to which Nepal is producing hydropower as a renewable energy is commendable.
Member of Nepal Climate Parliament Pradeep Paudel MP said that effective discussions were held between the representatives of different countries at the Regional Climate Summit. He praised the hospitality of Bangladesh and the success of the summit.
On this occasion, Nepalese parliament members Madhav Sapkota, Thakur Prasad Gayre, Shobita Gautam and secretary of infrastructure development parliamentary committee Uday Bhandari along with senior officials of National Parliament Secretariat were present.
