Primary teachers will get financial assistance of Rs 5,000 in case of emergency

News desk: Government primary school teachers will get financial assistance of Tk 5000 through mobile phone from Teachers Welfare Trust. With the passing of Government Primary School Teachers Welfare Trust Act, four lakh 62 thousand teachers will get this benefit.

Farid Ahmed, the secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, gave this information in a press conference organized at the meeting room of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Thursday (September 7). The press conference was held on the occasion of International Literacy Day.

Last Tuesday, the National Parliament passed the 'Government Primary School Teachers Welfare Trust Bill, 2023'. Before this the law was passed.

Referring to this, the secretary said that an important teacher welfare trust law of our ministry has been passed in the national parliament. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given Tk 36 crore for the four lakh 62 thousand teachers of our country for the last seven-eight years.

But due to the lack of law, we cannot help the financially poor and poor teachers who are scattered in the remote areas of the country, said Farid Ahmad.

Referring to the passing of the law as a milestone, he said, we have planned that by September, teachers will be able to apply in villages through mobile phone software. A minimum of five thousand rupees of financial assistance will reach his account through mobile SMS. I think government primary school teachers will benefit greatly from this.

The passed bill states that if a teacher dies while in service, the education expenses of his minor children will be borne till they reach adulthood. Apart from this, expenses will be given to disabled children or children with special needs.

The bill also states that teachers will get some financial benefits including medical expenses. Teachers have to contribute a certain amount to the trust fund and it will be fixed by the rules.
