
News Desk: Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) member Professor Dr. urged to reduce the audit objections of public universities to zero quota. Md. Abu Taher.
For this he called for Public Procurement Act, Ninth Pay Scale, General Financial Policy, Revenue Policy, proper exercise of financial sanction powers and accurate presentation of bills of expenditure.
He made this call in the speech of the chief guest at an event on the use of 'Audit Management and Monitoring System (AMMS) 2.0' software.
UGC organized training on AMMS software for concerned officials of 9 universities of Dhaka region on Wednesday (August 30). UGC has taken initiatives to strengthen financial transparency and accountability in public universities and ensure speedy service through the use of software.
UGC Secretary Dr. Ferdous Zaman was the special guest at the opening ceremony and Director of Finance and Accounts Department (Additional Charge). Rezaul Karim Howladar gave the welcome address.

Professor Abu Taher said that the university should follow the government's procurement policy, pay vouchers and VAT-tax with bills, and adhere to the national pay-scale in the field of salaries and allowances so that the university does not have audit objections. In the interest of the University and to avoid audit objections, the financial regulations need to be followed properly.
He also said that the use of audit management and monitoring system software will strengthen transparency and accountability in the financial sector and increase dynamics.
He felt that the audit process would be done in less time at lower cost and the number of audit objections would also come down.
Dr. Ferdous Zaman said, transparency and accountability in all fields including finances are guaranteed in public universities, proper use of public tax money and financial order must be maintained.
He also said that one of the goals of the UGC is to bring university services under automation quickly.
He felt that this training on the use of AMMS software would be helpful in resolving audit objections.

Abdul Mannan's presentation was attended by Audit Cell Heads and Audit related officials of Dhaka University, Bangladesh University of Engineering, Jahangirnagar University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Jagannath University, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Bangladesh Textile University and Islamic Arabic University.
