Today, June 1, is World Milk Day

Health Desk: Today June 1 is World Milk Day. It is an international day declared by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with the aim of highlighting the importance of milk and milk products as a global food. In 2001, FAO declared June 1 as World Milk Day.

Since that year, the day has been celebrated worldwide every year. On this occasion, World Milk Day celebration and Dairy Icon Celebration program has been organized at Krishibid Institution in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP).

In the event, 41 successful farmers and entrepreneurs of the country's dairy sector will be honored in four categories. Apart from this, on the occasion of the day, district and upazila livestock departments have organized various public awareness programs including management of consultation campaign on diversification of dairy products, organization of livestock exhibition, management of free livestock treatment campaign, free distribution of deworming medicine for livestock and vaccination campaign.
