News Desk: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek said that the impact of dengue infection has been increasing in Bangladesh for some time and everyone should be vigilant to stay free from dengue infection. Be careful about cleanliness. He said these things while addressing the chief guest at the official opening ceremony of World Immunization Week at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Sunday (May 7) at 12 noon. The health minister said, to avoid dengue, one should be free from mosquito bites. The surrounding environment should be kept clean. Care should be taken that water does not accumulate on the roof of the house and in the yard. He said, like every year, this year too, Immunization Week has been celebrated across the world. We vaccinate two and a half million children each year, covering more than 10 diseases in total. 1 lakh 20 thousand centers for this program.

We also vaccinate women aged 15 to 49 years. They are also vaccinated against 10 types of diseases. He also said that people of the country are interested in vaccination, they take vaccination with great pleasure. Our mothers are eager to vaccinate their children. They are the main reason behind our vaccination success. In this case, the government's goodwill is also a big factor. This activity requires a lot of logistical support which is provided by the government. We are also doing other activities during vaccination. Highlighting the success data, the minister said that currently 95 percent of children have been vaccinated, which was 52 percent in 2001. And the vaccination rate among women is 80 percent. We have many successes in vaccination, we have received many recognitions of success. The big recognition is that our Prime Minister has become a vaccine hero. It is because of these vaccines that we have achieved the SDGs. Immunization has reduced infant and maternal mortality. Vaccination has made a big contribution here. Our average life expectancy is 73, There were 50 even during the war of independence. The health minister said that 7 million people have died in the world due to Corona, 700 million people have been infected.

I have been able to vaccinate 36 crores. The death rate in our country was low because of vaccination. Speakers at the meeting said that many could not receive the vaccines included in the regular immunization program on time due to misleading information or various barriers in accessing services, especially due to our location in our respective residences during the Covid epidemic. As a result, there is a clear gap in immunity between unvaccinated and vaccinated protected children. Because of the outbreaks of polio, diphtheria, tuberculosis and other vaccine-preventable diseases around the world, we must all work together to ensure that unvaccinated children are immunized. they say In keeping with the world, Bangladesh government is determined to vaccinate all children (0-1 years) and childbearing women (15-49 years) in the country. In continuation of this, the Expanded Immunization Program or EPI of the Directorate of Health with the full cooperation of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been conducting immunization activities in the country since 1979 with reputation.

It was informed at the event that currently, children and women are given life-saving vaccinations against 10 deadly infectious diseases free of charge through about 700 permanent and 120,000 temporary vaccination centers in the country. Besides, several other vaccines are soon going to be included in the routine immunization program, among which the HPD vaccine is one of which with its successful implementation, we will be able to protect our women from incurable diseases like cervical cancer. The program was chaired by the Director General of the Department of Health. Abul Basar Muhammad Khurshid Alam. The Secretary of Health Services Department was present as a special guest. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howladar, Director General of Family Planning Directorate Sahan Ara Banu, World Health Organization Country Representative Dr. Bardan Jung Rana and many others.
