But how much time is considered stale? Most people think that overnight rice is called stale rice. But you will be surprised to know that after cooking rice, if it is kept at room temperature for 2 hours, bacteria start to accumulate in it.
Then eating that rice can cause stomach problems and food poisoning. Therefore, if you do not take care in storing the leftover rice properly and heating it later, you may suffer from stomach problems.
This is called Fried Rice Syndrome. Left over rice at room temperature for a few hours or overnight after cooking and eating, bacteria can grow on it. The problem caused by this is called Fried Rice Syndrome.
According to experts, the most common bacteria found in rice is Bacillus cereus. It is a spore-forming bacterium. It can grow in food after contamination and produce toxins. Which can cause food poisoning.
How to store rice?
If the rice is kept at 40 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees to 60 degrees Celsius) for more than 2 hours, bacteria can grow very quickly.
So rice should not be kept at room temperature for more than 2 hours. In this case, after eating, keep the leftover rice in a covered container in the refrigerator.
Leftover rice will stay good for up to 4 days if refrigerated below 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius). To eat leftover rice safely, just reheat it once and eat it immediately
