News Desk: Bangladesh Workers' Welfare Federation has called upon the employers to pay the workers' salaries before the holy Eid-ul-Fitr holiday. In a statement on Tuesday (April 18), Acting Central President of the organization Professor Harunur Rashid Khan and General Secretary Advocate Atiqur Rahman called for this. The labor leaders said that the owners should come forward so that the working people can celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with happiness. Workers in all institutional sectors, including the ready-made garment industry, must be paid their salaries before Eid. They said that every year before Eid, unpleasant situations are created in some factories.

The owners gave leave to the workers in the factories without paying their wages. The workers were angry. The workers protested to demand their salaries. They were forced to come down the street. The law and order situation deteriorated. Owners should take initiative to pay salaries and allowances on time so that this year does not repeat the previous years. They said that many factories including textile mills, sugar mills and jute mills are closed in the country. The workers of these factories are living an inhumane life without work. Many workers in the garment sector have been laid off from their jobs without reason.

Workers who were laid off during the Corona period are still unemployed. All these workers do not capture the joy of Eid in their lives. The government and related authorities should come forward to help these workers. Initiatives should be taken to provide financial support and employment for them before Eid. They also said that informal sector workers are helpless. All these workers are making a living somehow. They have to spend the days without food with their families. The government should take special initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the workers in this sector. Special measures should be taken to improve the standard of living of informal sector workers by listing them. The joy of Eid should be delivered to the homes of all these workers. The labor leaders said that the government should take initiative now so that they are not deprived of the joy of Eid.
