Bus-pick-up van collides in Dinajpur, 3 killed

Salah Uddin Ahmed, Dinajpur: Three people were killed on the spot and 8 were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger BRTC bus and a pickup van on Dinajpur Rangpur highway. The casualty incident took place on the highway in front of Darbarpur Jame Masjid at around 6 pm on Monday. The deceased are Mostakim Ahmed (27), son of Liakat Ali of Ranibandar of Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur district. Sohanur Rahman Sohan (26) son of Mansoor Ali of the same area and Faizar Uddin (40) son of Abdul Karim of Jasim Member Para of Khamar Satnala village of the same upazila, the pickup driver. The deceased were occupants of the pickup. 

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to Dinajpur's M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital and other medical centers. Many have returned home after receiving first aid. The front part of the BRTC bus was twisted in the accident. The pickup veered off the highway and onto the road. Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Inspector Golam Mawla said, when the Thakurgaon-bound BRTC bus reached the front of Ten Mile Textiles, it collided head-on with a pickup van coming at a high speed from the opposite direction.
