Batch admission test will be held in 22 universities including JOB-EB

News Desk: Jagannath and Islami University are under cluster admission in the university. Like last year, it has been decided to organize batch admission test for 2022-2023 academic year in 22 general and science and technology universities of the country.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the vice-chancellors of public universities at the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday (March 20).

According to a notification of the UGC, the UGC has given instructions to the cluster universities to take the admission test and start the classes after completing the admission process. The organizers have been advised to be careful to make the admission test process easy and student friendly and to make this batch of admissions unique. In the academic year 2023-2024, a common admission test will be organized in all the universities of the country.

UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah presided over the meeting as a member of the commission Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir, Professor Dr. Biswajit Chand and Professor Dr. Md. Abu Taher, Vice-Chancellor of 17 public universities, UGC Secretary Dr. Ferdous Zaman and Director of Public University Management Division Mohammad Jaminur Rahman along with related officials participated.

In the meeting, the existing crisis of cluster system admissions and possible solutions were discussed. It discusses how to overcome last year's complications in admissions and how to make admissions easier and student friendly.

UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah said, the people of the country have given us warm greetings for organizing the admission test in the batch system. This is a good test method, they said. The new system of testing has created some problems. So there is no way to get out of here. He urged the Vice-Chancellor and the admission concerned to be sincere because the batch admission test is a good and universally accepted method. The UGC chairman advised the concerned authorities to be sensitive in implementing the government's intention regarding the batch admission test.

Professor Muhammad Alamgir, member of the UGC and convener of the cluster admission test organizing committee, said that 80 percent of the public universities participated in the cluster admission test. The government has decided that a unique system of admission tests will be organized in all universities from next year. There is no way out. 22 universities will organize the admission test again in batch mode. Now they themselves will sit and decide next.

He urged the admissions concerned of the cluster universities to take the admission test soon and start the classes. Besides, he also called upon the countrymen to give an excellent admission test by simplifying the admission process.
