The Prime Minister inaugurated the Amar Ekushey Book Fair

News Desk  : On the first day of the month of language, Amar Ekushey Book Fair went up. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the month-long book fair organized by Bangla Academy on Wednesday afternoon. At this time, the Prime Minister said that the youth should be encouraged to read books, so that they do not get involved in drugs. All Bengali language books should be translated.

The slogan of Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2023 is, 'Read books, build country, Bangabandhu's Bangladesh'. This year the book fair has been expanded but some changes have been made. All book pavilions and stalls are located in the main part of Suhrawardy Udyan and Bangla Academy. And the engineering institute part has all the eateries, prayer places, toilets. This time under no circumstances will food stalls be allowed in different parts of the fair.

This year's book fair is being held in Bangla Academy premises and historical Suhrawardy Udyan in an area of ​​about 1.15 lakh square feet. 165 units have been allotted to 112 institutes in Academy premises and 736 units have been allotted to 489 institutes in Suhrawardy Udyan section. There are 38 pavilions in the fair. 153 stalls have been accommodated in the Littlemag premises.

The fair will run from 3 pm to 9 pm every day except holidays. However, visitors, buyers, readers will not be allowed to enter the fair premises after 8:30 pm. The book fair will run from 11 am to 9 pm on holidays. Every Friday and Saturday the fair will have 'Chishu Prahar' from 11 am to 1 pm.

The children's square is now placed on a larger scale just to the right of the temple-gate entrance. So that children can roam freely and easily collect their desired books. There will be seminars and cultural programs in the evening on the main stage of the book fair at 4 pm every day. New book unveiling ceremony will be arranged at Suhrawardy Udyan.

As part of the current government's 'Digital Bangladesh' concept, new book covers, information and book fair maps submitted to the digital display will be displayed periodically.

Adequate number of archways have been arranged at the entrance and exit of the book fair. Bangladesh Police, RAB, Ansar, BGB and intelligence agencies will be responsible for the overall security of the fair. More than 300 closed circuit cameras have been installed in the fair area for flawless security. The book fair will be polythene and smoke free. There is adequate lighting in the fairgrounds and surrounding areas (entire fairgrounds and Doel Chattar from TSC to Shahbagh, Matsya Bhavan, Engineering Institute to Shahbagh and from Doel Chattar to Shahid Minar to TSC, Doel Chattar to Chankharpul, TSC to Neelkhet) for the sake of safety.
