They were released from Dhaka's Keraniganj Central Jail at 5:50 pm on Monday. Earlier at 4.15 pm, their bail bonds reached the jail.

On December 7 last year, BNP leaders and activists clashed with the police in front of the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan of the capital. One person was killed and half a hundred people, including the police, were injured.

After the clash, the police raided the BNP office at night. The next day, the police filed four separate cases in Paltan, Motijheel, Ramna and Shahjahanpur police stations. Two thousand 975 leaders and activists of BNP were accused in this. Names of 725 people have been mentioned among them. The names of Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas were not there.

The DB police picked up Fakhrul and Abbas from their respective homes late at night on December 8. The two were first taken to the DB office on Minto Road in the capital. The next day they were arrested and sent to jail through the court.
