Sports Desk: A couple of days ago, there was a reshuffle in the chairmanship of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Ramiz Raja has been dismissed and Nazam Shetty has been given charge. The PCB has now appointed former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi as the interim chief selector of the national team. Afridi will be in charge of the upcoming home series against New Zealand.

Along with Afridi, former all-rounder Abdul Razzak and former pacer Rao Iftikhar Anjum are in charge of the selection panel.

PCB Chairman Najam Shetty said, 'I welcome the interim selection committee of the national team. I have no doubt that even in this limited time they will take bold decisions. Which will help us build a strong and competitive team against New Zealand.'

Shetty further added, 'Shahid Afridi was an aggressive cricketer who played cricket without any fear. He has 20 years of cricket career experience. He has been successful in participating in all formats, helping youngsters. In our opinion, there is no better person in modern cricket than him. I am confident about him. He will select the best cricketers and help the team achieve success.'

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi is happy with the new responsibility and said, 'I am proud to get this responsibility. I will give my best to fulfill my duty. I will soon call a meeting where I will discuss the plans with the selectors for the upcoming matches.'
