World Soil Day is today

News Desk: Today is December 5, World Soil Day. Like other countries of the world, the day will be celebrated with due dignity in Bangladesh. Various programs have been taken on this occasion.

This year's theme of the day is 'Soil: Where Food Begins'.

President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the occasion of the day.

On the occasion of the day, a seminar, Soil Care Award and World Soil Day award ceremony was organized at Khamarbari KIB Auditorium on Monday morning. Agriculture Minister will be the chief guest. Abdur Razzaq.

World Soil Day is designated to recognize the importance of soil in plant growth and human well-being. The International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) proposed World Soil Day in 2002 to raise awareness about the importance of proper soil management. After it was approved by the World Food Organization of the United Nations, the day is celebrated annually on December 5 worldwide.

More than 60,000 geologists of the world celebrate this day with pride. The responsibility of these scientists is to increase the knowledge about soil and its promotion and dissemination. It is organized to promote the benefits of healthy soil in all countries of the world.
