Permission is granted where the government thinks fit: Home Minister

News Desk: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that BNP will be allowed to hold a rally on December 10 at Suhrawardy Udyan subject to conditions. On the other hand, BNP is saying that they will hold a rally in Nayapaltan.

In this context, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the government will not give permission anywhere under compulsion. Permission is given wherever the Government thinks fit. Big gatherings are not possible without Suhrawardy Udyan.

He said these things in response to a question from journalists after the inauguration of the second Sheikh Kamal CIRC Snooker Championship-2022 organized at the Dhaka Club in the capital on Saturday (November 26).

The Home Minister said that the venue of Suhrawardy Udyan has been requested by BNPE. DMP Commissioner Suhrawardy Udyan felt suitable. That is why BNP has been allowed there. We (Awami League) have some party programs, they will end. After that, BNP can hold a rally there. We do not know what they (BNP) are saying.

BNP says the government will be forced to allow the assembly in Paltan, when attention was drawn to this, the home minister said the government is under no obligation. Where it is best, the government allows. No official permission has yet come for them to hold a rally in Paltan. BNP was coming to us. They talked about three places. One of them was Suhrawardy Udyan.

In response to the question of the journalists whether the BNP can hold a rally anywhere other than Suhrawardy Udyan, the minister said, "My question is to you." Where will they do such a large gathering? BNP wanted in front of Parliament House. No one is allowed to assemble in front of the Parliament building.

BNP is holding departmental mass meetings across the country for various demands. In continuation of this, today (November 26) rally is being held in Comilla. The program will end with a rally in Dhaka on December 10. The political arena of the country has been heated for quite some time with the pre-announced rally of BNP.
