There should be a sense of responsibility towards the people of the country: Prime Minister

News desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, when accidents happen in many countries, we help them, and when storms, floods or disasters happen in our country, the members of the Air Force, the members of the armed forces stand by the people, serve the people, this is the most important thing.

He also said that to win any war, people's trust is absolutely necessary. Besides, we don't want war, we want peace. We believe in the principle of friendship with all. Even then we have to continue with all the excellence by training in terms of skills, with that confidence. There should be a sense of responsibility towards the motherland and the people of the country. What Bangabandhu said in his speech, the sense of responsibility towards the country and the people of the country, this is the most important thing.  

He said this at the Bangladesh Air Force Presidential Parade at the BAF Academy in Jessore today (Thursday).

The head of government said that the father of the nation took charge of a war-torn country after independence. A country that had no reserve money. There were no currency notes, roads, pools, bridges, everything was destroyed. Moreover, the elevation of a province to a state and every institution appropriate to it was done by him with great speed. The father of the nation was killed by the merciless bullet of an assassin while rehabilitating and reorganizing the war-torn country and moving towards economic liberation.

He further said, a war-torn country, we had nothing. Still, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman built this air force with the help of our friendly country, with very limited strength. Air force has contributed in our liberation war. I respect those who gave their lives. Our Air Force has a glorious chapter in the Great War of Liberation.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Unfortunately, after the killing of the father of the nation, there are repeated queues in this country." About 600 Air Force officers and soldiers were brutally killed. From 1975 to 1996, many events took place in this country. After 21 years in '96, we came to the government, the government came and took measures to rebuild the air force. MiG 29 is the first we buy. Moreover, the air force was rebuilt with various equipment including Siwan Thirteen fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, high power air radar.

He also said that our air force is playing a very good role in the peacekeeping mission. We are really proud of that.

He also said that the Father of the Nation formulated the Defense Policy in 1974 to protect the sovereignty of our country.

Sheikh Hasina said, not only to protect the sovereignty of the country, it is also my goal that those who are working in the peacekeeping mission should be educated. Aiming at that, we have purchased various types of aircraft, helicopters, radars, equipment. We have done Bangabandhu Aeronautical Centre. Our goal is to make our boys excel in all aspects of training. Today's Air Force is more powerful, modern and smart than before in terms of infrastructure, tactics, technology. We have made digital Bangladesh. Therefore, we have taken measures in such a way that each of our forces will be equipped with technical knowledge.
