Accused of 18 cases arrested in Jamalpur

Md. Imran Mahmud, Jamalpur : District detective police arrested Ashraf Ali (52), accused in 18 drug cases, from Melandah upazila of Jamalpur. He was arrested in front of Molikadanga government primary school of the upazila on Sunday (November 20).

The district detective police confirmed the matter through a press release on Sunday evening. The drug lord Ashraf Ali is the son of Md. Suruzzaman of that area.

The district intelligence police said that on the basis of secret information, he was arrested in front of Molikadanga Government Primary School of Melandah Upazila along with Sangeet Force under the leadership of SI Md. Mostafizur Rahman. At this time, 1 gram of heroin was recovered from him. Later, a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act at Melandah police station.

In this regard, SI Md. Mostafizur Rahman said, an operation was conducted in Melandah upazila on the orders of Jamalpur Superintendent of Police. He said that the campaign will continue to make the district drug free.
