106 pieces of gold recovered from Bangdah border in Jhikargacha

Osman Gani, Benapole: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested a gold smuggler named Saju Ahmed (20) along with 106 pieces of gold bars weighing 12.5 kg from Bangda area of ​​Jessore's Jhikargacha border while smuggling to India. Its weight is 12 and a half kg. He was arrested along with gold from Bangda area of ​​Jhikargacha upazila on Tuesday (October 18) around 3 pm. He is the son of deceased Abdus Salam of Kabilpur village of Chougacha Police Station, Jessore. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Jessore-49 battalion captain Lt. Colonel Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui said that a shipment of a large amount of gold was being smuggled to India through Bangda border in Kabilpur village of Jhikargacha upazila of Jessore. After receiving such secret information, the BGB members conducted a special operation at the border and arrested the smuggler Saju. Later, they seized 106 gold bars while hiding them in a cloth wrapped around his body. The value of the seized gold is Tk 10 crore, said the BGB captain. A case against the arrested has been handed over to Jhikargacha Police Station along with Swarn. He also said that smugglers including gold traders and godfathers will be brought under the law.
