Prime Minister's emphasis on ensuring digital security

News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized on finding the best possible way to ensure digital security and alerting the people of the country in this regard. About information technology, he further said, “The world is becoming more complex due to the advent of these new technologies. The world is going through a tough time today and Bangladesh is also facing its adverse effects. Therefore, with a view to taking the country further, ensuring the safety of the people and continuing the progress and development of the country, a well-planned opinion in this regard is essential.” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this at the National Digital Security Council meeting at her official residence Ganabhaban on Thursday (October 6) morning. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh has become a digital country and has taken full advantage of this digital technology during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Besides, it has been warned against its downside, which is mainly a threat to security systems. Pointing out that various social problems, extremism and terrorism are spreading through digital devices, the Prime Minister said, "Due to this development in digital technology, cyber crime has now emerged as a major problem." He further said, “So ensuring safety is the most important thing for us now. The world is now becoming a global village and no one can stay isolated anymore. We understand this all too well because of the coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.” The Prime Minister said, "What should be done to ensure the security of Bangladesh and that way should be figured out in the light of the experience of others." Sheikh Hasina also emphasized on the need to create awareness among people about how harmful cyber crime is to individuals, families, society and the state. The Prime Minister said, "Though advances in science and technology have both good and bad sides, no nation can progress without them." Members of the National Digital Security Council were present at the meeting.
