BNP's talk of non-communal Bangladesh does not suit: Obaidul Quader

On Wednesday (October 5), Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader issued a statement condemning BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's statement.

He said that every time BNP has come to power, it has sponsored communal evils. After killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family on August 15, 1975, Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, led the military dictatorship of Bangladesh, cherished in the spirit of the liberation war, backwards to Pakistani ideology.

General Secretary of Awami League said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman banned religion-based politics in the constitution made in 1972. But Ziaur Rahman, who seized power unconstitutionally and illegally, amended the constitution and legalized the misuse of religion in politics. As the leader of that party, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's talk of non-communal Bangladesh is just a crocodile's cry.

He said, the impersonation of BNP General Secretary for non-communalism and democracy is a kind of mockery with the people of the country. The democratic rights of the people of this country have been established by the hands of Awami League. Therefore, Bangladesh Awami League is doing the utmost to develop democracy and maintain it. In contrast, BNP never cares about people power; Continually perpetuates the impossibility of occupying power in undemocratic ways.

History testifies that when BNP came to power, Bangladesh became a sanctuary for terrorism and militancy. They came to power and established state fascism by sponsoring terrorist and extremist groups. In addition to the hellish massacre of August 21, all kinds of efforts were made to suppress the opposition. It has institutionalized corruption by destroying democratic institutions and stifling accountability and responsibility. And today there is a deep conspiracy to hinder the development and democracy of Bangladesh.

Quader said Bangladesh has been on the highway of development and progress for more than a century under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina. The Awami League government under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter is working tirelessly to improve the destiny of the people of this country. Awami League represents the people of this country; And Sheikh Hasina is its focal point.

"Recently, an article in the Washington Post, the top local daily in the United States, praised the successful statesman Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the remarkable progress of women in Bangladesh, education and poverty alleviation, suppression of terrorism, as well as strong leadership on the world stage. Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina believes in the empowerment of the people and trusts in the people. Therefore, Sheikh Hasina can clearly say 'If the people vote, I will remain in power, if not, there is no regret'.

He said that Bangladesh is achieving development milestones one after another because of the government of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina; Being praised in the world meeting. There is a breeze of democracy in the country because of Sheikh Hasina. Like his father Mujib, he is also determined to uphold the democratic values ​​and spirit of the liberation war of this country. So we strongly want to say that if any evil forces want to destroy the democratic culture of this country through conspiracy, they will be given a sharp reply.
