People should be served impartially: IGP

News desk: The new Inspector General (IGP) of the force Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has instructed the field level police officers to ensure impartial service to the people by carrying out their duties with professionalism. He said that people first come to the police station to get police services. The door of the police station is never closed. We want to make Thana as the first place of trust for people to get services. He gave this order in the first exchange meeting with all Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs, District Superintendents of Police and Officers-in-Charge (OC) of the country from the Police Headquarters on Tuesday (October 4) morning. The meeting was attended by senior officers including Additional IGPs of Police Headquarters. Giving an example of humanitarian policing during the time of extreme disaster during the corona virus, the IGP said that the way the police stood by the people and served them, the people will remember them with respect for the rest of their lives. In the future too, the policemen should continue this trend of service by fulfilling their duties sincerely. He said that as the 'people's police' of the father of the nation, we have to fulfill the challenge of making the impossible possible as in the past by working with professionalism. The IGP said that Bangladesh is now a 'role model' in the world in combating militancy and terrorism. We have to strengthen our activities to combat militancy in the future. He said that the respect and image of the police is tarnished due to the deviant behavior of some policemen, it cannot be done in any way. Exemplary legal action will be taken against any policeman if allegations of unethical acts or corruption are proved against him. The IGP also directed the policemen to follow the government directives regarding the use of social media. He said, to increase the capacity of the police, crime will be controlled by incorporating information technology and modern technology. Reliance on technology to investigate cases will increase. Ordering to ensure the overall welfare of the policemen, he said, along with welfare, discipline should also be ensured 100%. The IGP said that any person or group trying to worsen the law and order situation should be dealt with sternly. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh has progressed a lot in various social indicators. We will work towards building a police suitable for the developed country of 2041.
