Hasan Javed, Brahmanbaria: Due to a fault in the national grid line, the production of 5 units of Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited (APSCL) stopped simultaneously. About 700 megawatts of electricity generation is disrupted and the power supply of the entire area including the power station is stopped. This incident happened on Tuesday afternoon. However, at 5:30 p.m., APSCL authorities said that power connection has already been obtained and the process of restarting the shut down units is underway. The authorities could not confirm when these units will be reopened. Meanwhile, the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) has not yet confirmed where and what kind of problem the national grid is facing. According to APSCL and PGCB sources, the 450 MW combined cycle power plant (North and South), the 225 MW combined cycle power plant, the 200 MW United Power Plant and the 200 MW United Power Plant operating under the control of APSCL were shut down due to a fault in the national grid line. The 53 MW gas engine shuts down in one go. At this time, the Combined Cycle Power Plant (North) with a capacity of 450 MW is about 320 MW, the Combined Cycle Power Plant (South) with a capacity of 450 MW is about 173 MW, the Combined Cycle Power Plant with a capacity of 225 MW is 170 MW, the United A of 200 MW 8 MW and 53 MW gas engines were generating about 30 MW of electricity. Because of this, the power supply of the entire upazila including Ashuganj power station was stopped. Till the time of writing this report (5:30 PM) electricity supply has not been possible in any part of the upazila and no unit has been started. Meanwhile, the PGCB authorities said that the process of starting the grid line has been started even though it is not possible to tell exactly where and what kind of problems have occurred in the grid line. In this regard, Engineer Md. Shah Alam Khan, Executive Director (Technical) of Ashuganj Power Station Company Ltd., said that due to a fault in the grid line, 5 operating units of the center were shut down. At that time, about 700 MW of electricity was being produced from the units. In this regard, APSCL MD Engineer AM, M, M Sajjadur Rahman said that already (5:30 pm) power (electricity) has been received and the process of restarting the closed units has started. However, he could not specify when all the units would be back in production. Meanwhile, admitting the problem in the grid line, Chief Engineer (Chip Engineer) of PGCB Md. Morshed Alam said that the authorities are starting work to determine where and what kind of problem has occurred and to normalize the power supply.
