A fine of Tk 2 lakh for the crime of selling fake packaging of famous and expensive brands

News desk: An organization has been fined Tk 2 lakh for the crime of counterfeiting the packaging of famous and expensive brands and illegally selling detergents of different brands. At the same time, the institution has been temporarily closed in public interest.

National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection conducted this operation in Chowkbazar area on Sunday (September 25).

In the raid, it was seen that Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industry Corporation's red sugar, detergent, biscuits, chanachur, chips, spices, tea, rice, etc. are being sold by counterfeiting different packets/wrappers of various famous brands in the company named Siam Packaging. Besides, various brands of detergents were sold illegally there.

The campaign was conducted by the Assistant Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate. Abdul Jabbar Mandal. He said that for quite some time activities are going on to stop the sale of fake sugar. To stop it, raids were conducted in this institution based on secret information. But here unscrupulous traders are selling packets of various products besides fake sugar packets.
