Ghorashal Urea Fertilizer Factory to reduce import dependency

News Desk: Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said that Ghorashal-Palash Urea Fertilizer Factory project is being implemented to reduce dependence on fertilizer import. He further said, "The work of the project is almost 80% complete." The Industries Minister said these things to reporters while inspecting the project under implementation at Palash in Narsingdi on Saturday (September 10). Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun also said, "It will also play a role in meeting the domestic demand of urea fertilizer in the country to ensure food security and ensure supply of fertilizer to farmers at affordable prices." The Industries Minister said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of Palash Urea Fertilizer Project at Ghorashal in Narsingdi district with the aim of producing 9.24 lakh metric tons of fertilizer annually. I hope Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina can inaugurate the fertilizer factory in December 2023." Meanwhile, he met with the project stakeholders in an exchange meeting. State Minister of Industry Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, local MP Dr. were present there. Anwarul Ashraf Khan, Industry Ministry Secretary Zakia Sultana, BCIC Chairman Shah Md. Imdadul Haque, project director Rajiur Rahman Mallick, representatives of donor organizations and related officials. State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said, "During the BNP-Jamaat government, when the people of the country took to the streets to demand fertiliser, electricity and food, they were shot dead. And now 100% electricity is guaranteed. The country is currently self-sufficient in food due to the delivery of agricultural inputs including fertilizers and irrigation to the farmers' doorsteps. There was no shortage of food for the people of the country amid the global epidemic corona. On top of that, various incentives, money and food assistance given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have made it possible to maintain the normal way of life of the people.”
