News Desk: The apparent low pressure over Northeast Bay of Bengal has moved northwestward and intensified into a low pressure. Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been advised to show local warning signal number 3. This information was given in the special weather bulletin No. 1 given by the Storm Warning Center of the Meteorological Department on Friday (August 19). Earlier, the Meteorological Department issued local warning number 3 on Thursday due to low pressure. Moderate heavy to very heavy rains may occur at some places in southern region as Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and prevails over North Bay of Bengal. Along with this, gusty winds may blow in seaports, North Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh. Under the influence of low pressure and excess of air pressure difference, the coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar and their remote islands and lowlands of Aungchar are 2 to 4 above normal tide. Wind-driven tides greater than 10 feet high may cause inundation. Deep convective clouds continue to form over the North Bay of Bengal and nearby areas under the influence of low pressure and there is an excess of pressure difference over the North Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas of Bangladesh. Sea ports, North Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh are likely to experience gale force winds.
