Tofazzal Hossain Babu, Pabna: A UP member named Shafiqul Islam has been accused of marrying an estranged lover without obeying the law by arranging arbitration at his house secretly to cover up the incident of adultery in Bhangura. He is a member of Ward No. 7 of Par-Bhangura Union of Upazila. The incident took place in Charpara village of Ward No. 6 of the same union. It is known that on Wednesday (August 17) at 9 in the morning, a young man named Rajib Hossain (27) of the same village entered the house of the housewife (35) as there was no one in the house. After some time, the housewife's husband came home and saw them in an offensive condition in a room and arrested them with the help of the locals. Mr. Rajiv is the village head of the village. Son of Dolal Pramanik. Housewife of that village. Wife of Helal Pramanik and mother of two children. Member of Parshavarti No. 7 Ward. Shafiqul Islam got the news and went to the place of the incident at around 11 am and brought the two people to Par-Bhangura Union Parishad. The chairman ordered them to be handed over to the police station. But for the purpose of taking advantage, the member takes them to his house and secretly arbitrates the house wife and divorces her husband at the same time marrying the rapist. In this regard, the housewife said, I met Rajiv four years ago through mobile phone and sometimes we used to talk and at one stage we developed a love relationship. He offered to have sex with me and if I didn't agree, he would force rape me and promise that he would marry me if I told him. Since then, sometimes when no one is at home, he comes and does these things. Today my husband came to me as he was not at home and after some time my husband came to see me. Rajib admitted the physical relationship and denied the love affair and said, "The woman is not good, she has done this with many others, so I did it." Admitting the arbitration, Ward No. 7 member Shafiqul Islam said, "I got married with a cabin of 5 lakh taka." In this regard, Mufti Habibullah said, marriage can be done after three months and 13 days of divorce and it is not right to marry before that. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhangura police station Md. Faisal bin Ahsan said, after receiving the news, I sent the police but as there was no complaint from the housewife, it was not possible to take legal action.
