But the state minister said it was a slip of the tongue. Md Zakir Hossain, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized by Upazila Awami League in Rajibpur on Monday (August 15) afternoon. In that speech, State Minister Zakir Hossain can be heard saying, "We will keep praying for Bangabandhu that God will place him in a good place in hell". The event was recorded live and videoed by various activists and journalists of Awami League on Facebook. Instantly this statement went viral. In the evening, however, the state minister explained it. He said that he uttered the word 'hell' falsely in the explanation. Briefing in Rajivpur, State Minister Zakir Hossain said that at one stage of the speech, the word 'hell' came first with a slip of tongue. After that, correcting it later, he uttered the word 'Jannat' three times, four times. Zakir Hossain said, "They (Facebook sharers) did not give the rest of the apology that I said." The above words were not given, nor were the following words given. They are trying to degrade me socially and politically by giving that wrong part of my (speech). Apologizing to everyone for the mistake, the state minister said in the briefing that he has made a general diary (GD) in this regard at the police station. Rajivpur Upazila Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Hai Sarkar said that the matter has actually been a 'slip of the tongue'. He gave a revised statement soon after. Meanwhile, in a press release on Monday night, Public Relations Officer of the State Minister Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin said that the State Minister of Primary and Mass Education Md. Zakir Hossain MP uttered the word 'hell' with a frown at one stage of the speech. The state minister immediately corrected it. Due to his carelessness, he has humbly requested not to indulge in the misinformation spread on social media to denigrate him. However, the state minister said that legal action will be taken against anyone who carries out fabricated and purposeful campaign on this.
