International Desk: The United Kingdom has become the first country in the world to approve a dual vaccine to prevent coronavirus. It has been reported that it will also work against new types of Omicron including the original type of corona. Officials in the country said the vaccine will now be added to the fall booster campaign.

American pharmaceutical company Moderna has improved their vaccine recently. They said that they will produce 1.3 million doses of this new vaccine this year. 2.6 million people need a booster dose. Health officials say that it should be considered as urgent as booster dose to prevent corona.

The original vaccine used in the pandemic was trialled in late 2019 to fight the first strain of the virus from Wuhan, China. But the coronavirus has changed significantly since then, with new types of infection emerging that can evade some of our immune systems. In the meantime, some types have spread to different countries of the world.

The original vaccines still provide strong protection against getting seriously ill or dying. But organizations are continuing to do more research to combat the virus.

Currently, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the UK has decreased.

Moderna's latest vaccine - called SpikeVax. It makes both the original type and the first Omicron (BN.1) important. It is also known as a bivalent vaccine. The UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has considered the evidence and has given this approval for the vaccine for use in adults. The chief executive of the company Dr. Jun Rain said: 'What this bivalent vaccine gives us is a sharp tool in our arsenal to help protect us against this disease. Because the virus is constantly evolving.

A study of 437 people in the trial showed that the updated vaccine was safer and produced better immunity against the new type.

US Health Secretary Steve Barclay said it was 'very good news for the UK population' and those able to take it would be 'relieved to know that their immune system will be boosted'. He also said that it will reach the people in the beginning of September.
