International Desk: The US is preparing to participate in joint military exercises with India within 100 km of the border of Asian superpower China. According to CNN, this military exercise will be held in the middle of October in Auli, Uttarakhand state of India. According to Indian Army officials, it will focus on combat training of troops. Relations between India and China have been strained since at least 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers were killed in June 2020 in a bloody clash between troops of the two sides in Arunachal. Auli is located about 95 km from the Sino-Indian Line of Actual Control (LAC). Therefore, it is feared that this kind of military exercise may increase the tension on this disputed border between India and China. The exercise will be held as part of the 18th edition of the annual India-US joint exercise. During a visit to India this year, US Army Pacific Commanding General Charles Flynn termed China's military presence near the border as "alarming". At that time, he expressed optimism about this joint exercise.
