Riots, scuffles at the UNO meeting in Faridpur's Saltha

Ehsan Rana, Faridpur: In Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur, there was a commotion and scuffle in the Puja Celebration Parishad meeting. When a video regarding this was spread on social media, there was a stir about the matter. This incident took place in the Upazila Parishad conference room at 11 o'clock on Sunday. Upazila Executive Officer, Chairman of Upazila Parishad and Municipal Mayor were present in the meeting. Eyewitnesses said that there are two committees of Nagarkanda Upazila Puja Celebration Parishad. Bidhan Biswas is the president of one and Babu Manoranjan Biswas is the president of the other. As there are two committees in the same upazila, administrative and social complications are created from time to time. To solve this, the upazila executive officer organized a discussion meeting between the two parties. The aim was to settle the disputes between the two parties and form a committee that could be discussed with everyone. The meeting was organized for that purpose. But during the meeting, the supporters of Bidhan Biswas and Manoranjan Biswas started fighting. Later, the upazila executive officer and Ansar members present controlled them. As a result the meeting ended without any decision. Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Imam Razi Tulu said, "I have just joined here, I don't know everyone like that yet." There are two committees of the Pooja Celebration Parishad. Every day the two parties come to complain against each other. Again they told me to sit with everyone and unite the two sides. Meetings were organized in the upazila for that purpose. But due to commotion the meeting had to end without any decision. Later, both parties were informed that the two parties should not have any trouble with this later. Nimai Chandra Sarkar, Mayor of Nagarkanda Municipality and former president of Puja Celebration Committee, said that Mr. UNO had taken a good initiative. But it was not successful. What happened was a shocking incident. Supporters of Vidhan Biswas and Manoranjan Biswas got into a scuffle during the meeting. There is no problem with this matter now.
