Mostafizur Rahman, Lalmonirhat: The Kaliganj Thana Police has arrested Noor Alamgir Anu, Joint General Secretary of 'Lalmonirhat Reporters Unity' and Joint Secretary General of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Mufswal Journalist Society (BMSS) by calling and inviting him to the police station for tea. There is extreme anger in the journalist community. Shahnaz Parveen, wife of Daily Delta Patrika Lalmonirhat and Editor of Daily Mukti Noor Alamgir Anu, said that on Thursday (August 4) at noon, journalist Noor Alamgir called Anu from the OC of Kaliganj police station and invited her for tea at the police station. Later, when Anu went to the police station, they arrested him in a false case recorded yesterday and sent him to jail. On hearing this news, he went to see the OC but did not give any reply. He called but hung up the phone showing busyness without speaking. Apart from this, Kaliganj upazila chairman did not pick up the phone despite repeated calls. It is known that for a long time there was a dispute with the family of journalist Noor Alamgir Anur regarding the family land of his father-in-law. If there is a case in the court, the judgment of the case is also in favor of journalist Anud. However, journalist Noor Alamgir Anu has been arrested and hastily sent to jail on a false accusation made by her cousin Amena Shirin Mustazir. The said case has not been investigated or notice has not been issued. On the condition of non-disclosure, many said that journalist Noor Alamgir Anu used to post regularly on Facebook against drugs. He also posted pictures along with videos of drug use. Later the police arrested them and sent them to jail. From this Anu has a hostile relationship with the thana police. As a result, he was arrested by the police in an alleged case. The central leaders including the founder and chairman of Lalmonirhat Reporters Unity and Bangladesh Mafswal Journalist Society (BMSS) Khandkar Achifur Rahman, Secretary General Md. Sumon Sardar have issued a statement demanding the release of journalist Noor Alamgir Anu. On the other hand, journalists from all over the country including Lalmonirhat have burst into anger. All journalist organizations including Lalmonirhat Reporters Unity and BMSS have warned of human chain and protest program across the country to demand the release of journalist Anu and to take action against that OC. In this regard, Kaliganj Police Station OC Golam Rashul said, I have no personal enmity with journalist Anu. If a written complaint of extortion is lodged against him, the truth of the same is found upon investigation. As a result, he was arrested and sent to jail.
