Sheikh Kamal was multi-talented: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Sheikh Kamal was a multi-dimensional talent role model of youth. He was not only the best sports organizer and athlete of the country, but also a brilliant student. Along with studies, he cherished and practiced native culture wholeheartedly. The Prime Minister said this in a message on Thursday (August 4) on the occasion of the 73rd birth anniversary of martyred freedom fighter Captain Sheikh Kamal on Friday (August 5). He said that he is very happy to know that the birth anniversary of the brave freedom fighter martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal is being celebrated with due dignity nationally by the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He sincerely thanked everyone involved in this celebration. Sheikh Hasina said Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was a bright star in the sports world of independent Bangladesh. He formed the Abahani Social Welfare Organization before independence. After returning from the war of liberation, Abahani founded Krirachakra. Apart from football, he also formed hockey, cricket and table tennis teams under Abahani Krirachakra. He said, in order to remember the contribution of the brave freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal and as a token of deep respect to his memory, the 'Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Award-2022' is being given to those who have made significant contributions in various fields of sports. The Prime Minister once again thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for taking this initiative. He wished the all-round success of all the programs undertaken on the occasion of the 73rd birth anniversary celebrations of the brave freedom fighter martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal.
