Two dismissed policemen were arrested on charges of extortion in Bogra

Sanju Roy, Bogra: Two dismissed policemen have been arrested on charges of extortion in the office of outsourcing of students in a local hostel at Jahurulnagar in Bogra. After Friday evening, the owner of the building complained to the Sadar police station and the police arrested them that night. The arrested are Abu Hasan Alal (30) and Abu Hossain Dulal (30), son of Abdul Quader of Zahurul Nagar Bankpara. Both the arrested persons were working as constables of Bangladesh Police but their jobs were terminated due to allegations of various crimes. According to the statement filed by Md Al Amin, the owner of the extorted building, and Sadar police sources, the two brothers Alal and Dulal were arrested on Friday at approximately 7.30 pm along with their accomplices, Patal (28), Rana (32) and Johnny (32). Along with some unidentified youths came to the office of Student Mess and Outsourcing on the ground floor of Al Amin building and created a tense atmosphere by abusing them in profanity and threatened to close the office if they did not pay Rs 2 lakh immediately. In addition, the defendants also threatened to destroy computers and laptops used for outsourcing if the contribution is not paid. Meanwhile, plaintiff Al Amin mentioned in the statement that the defendants had previously taken Tk 50,000 by force by creating a similar atmosphere and threatening the plaintiff of the case on April 7. SI Rahim Rana, the investigating officer of the case who led the arrest operation, said that as soon as the incident came to light after Friday evening, the officer-in-charge of the Sadar police station went to the spot and the two brothers Alal and Dulal were arrested as the incident of extortion and commotion was found to be true during the preliminary investigation. He said that Dulal has 3 previous cases of various crimes in the name of Dulal, including the murder case in the name of the arrested brothers. He said that it has been confirmed from various people of the area that they were involved in various criminal activities in the area after leaving the police service. In this regard, Bogra Sadar police station officer-in-charge Md. Salim Reza said that a case was filed against the arrested on Friday night and they were sent to the court after Saturday afternoon. He also said that the operation to arrest the rest of the accused is also ongoing. OC Salim Reza said that under the leadership of the District Superintendent of Police, no extortionist will have a place in Bogra, no matter how powerful he is. This official gave a stern warning that extortionists will be uprooted. He only urged everyone to cooperate with information.
