After 20 years, the verdict in the case of rape of a teenager, two people were sentenced to life imprisonment

Nazrul Islam, Rangpur: After 20 years in Muradpur village of Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur, verdict has been given in the case of kidnapping and rape of a minor girl. The court has ordered life imprisonment for two rapists. On Thursday afternoon, Judge Mustafa Kamal of Rangpur Women and Child Torture Prevention Court 1 announced the verdict. It is said that both defendants were present in the court during the announcement of the verdict. In the details of the case, it is known that on May 14, 2002, the minor teenage daughter of Abdul Aziz of Muradpur village of Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur went to visit her elder sister's house in the same village. That day at around 8 pm, the teenage girl went to fetch water from the tubewell near the house. At that time, the accused Rafiqul was there. Islam and Shah Alam abducted the teenage girl at gunpoint and took her to a field near the house where the two accused took turns raping her. When the girl's screams came, the accused ran away from the scene. When Abdul Aziz, the father of the raped girl, filed a case at the Pirganj police station, the police did not take the case. Later, when he filed a case in the court, the learned judge ordered the Pirganj police station to record the case and take necessary action. gives After the investigation of the case, on June 30 of that year, the police officer investigating the case, SI Khalilur Rahman, filed a charge sheet against the two accused in the court. Jazjivan ordered one more year of rigorous imprisonment without paying a fine of one lakh rupees. The court also ordered both the sentences to be served concurrently. Special PP Advocate Rafiq Hasnain, who is handling the case for the state, said that even after 20 years, the court has ordered life imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor teenage girl.
