Tofazzal Hossain, Pabna: The local farmers of Muladuli Union of Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna are busy cultivating 'auto beans'. By the end of next month, they said that these beans, which have been cultivated in advance, will be available in the market in about (20-25) days. Farmers here have benefited every time by cultivating 'auto bean'. They are dreaming the same this time too. According to Upazila Agriculture Office sources, beans are cultivated on 1130 hectares of land in Iswardi. Out of this 850 hectares of land is cultivated in Muladuli Union alone. In 2021, beans worth 81 crore 36 lakh taka were sold in this upazila. It can be seen from the surface, that in Muladuli of Ishwardi, which is known as one of the country's bean producing areas, early bean cultivation is going on. Farmers start preparing for bean cultivation in the middle of Jaishtha. To protect the bean plants from rainwater during the monsoon season, beets or TBs are made 12 to 16 inches high in the ground. Beans are being cultivated in that high field. The bean plants of the 'Auto' variety have already grown up in the loft and are full of flowers. Within 20 to 25 days these beans will be in full swing in the market. Farmers here get success every year in this bean cultivation. So the plantation is increasing every year. A huge market has also developed in Muladuli of Ishwardi based on bean cultivation. An average of 25 to 30 trucks of beans go to the district cities of the country including Dhaka, Sylhet, Chittagong, Barisal. Kamal Hossain, a bean farmer of Baghachla village in Muladuli, said, "I have planted beans on two and a half bigha land. 40,000 to 45,000 rupees were spent per bigha of cultivation. If the plantation is good, beans will be sold for Tk 120,000 to Tk 150,000 per bigha. He also said, "Last year, auto seeds of early varieties were sold for the first time in the market at the rate of Tk 150 per kg. If the yield is good and the farmer gets a fair price, he will benefit. Yunus Ali, a farmer of Betbaria village, said, "The farmers here have benefited greatly from the cultivation of early varieties of beans. Enthusiasm in bean cultivation is increasing. Aminul Islam, advisor of Muladuli Dainik Sabzi Bazar Samiti, said that cultivation of early varieties of beans has started. The sale of beans has not yet started. It is expected that early varieties of beans will be available in the market within 20 to 25 days. Muladuli Union Agriculture Sub-Assistant Officer. Aliuzzaman said, early varieties of beans called Auto, Ghrit Kanchan and Rupsi are cultivated here. Farmers benefit from early varieties of beans, but this crop requires excessive application of fertilizers and pesticides. Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar said that the beans that are available in advance in the capital market are produced in Ishwardi. Most of the country's beans are cultivated here. However, farmers use excessive fertilizers and pesticides in early bean cultivation which are very harmful to health. Farmers are being advised on how to produce early beans with less use of fertilizers and pesticides.
