News Desk: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two people for allegedly demanding ransom from a hotel manager in Pahartali area of Chittagong. They were arrested from South Kattli area on Monday night.

He said the victim. Mahbub Alam is a hotel manager by profession. About two years ago, Mahbub met a woman named Rinku from Pahartali area and formed a friendly relationship. Due to this relationship, on July 4, Mahbub went to visit Rinkur Bhai's rented house in South Kattli area of Pahartali in Chittagong city. Rabbi Chowdhury Shaon suddenly at one stage of entertaining Rinku Mahbub at home, Md. Some people including Kaiser Chowdhury and Abdul entered the house. They started harassing Mahbub and saying various ugly things. When Mahbub protested, the accused beat him. At one stage he locked himself in the house and locked the door from inside.
He said the accused snatched cash from Mahbub's pocket, mobile phone and wallet. Besides, they started beating for the pin code number of 3 David cards of the bank. At one stage, he said he would release Mahbub if he paid a ransom of Tk 5 lakh. Victim Mahbub then agreed to pay and, according to the accused, asked his brother and friend to come to Rinku's house with Rs 5 lakh. Of this, the accused took 36 thousand rupees for development.
The RAB official said that Mahbub's brother and friend said at one stage that they have been able to collect two lakh rupees so far. The accused asked them to come quickly with Tk 2 lakh in cash. Mahbub's elder brother Alam and friend Ashrafuzzaman Shaon reported the incident to RAB-7 Chittagong.
He said that on the basis of this information, an expedition team of RAB came to Rinku with the complainants. At the moment before taking the ransom money from them, said Hatena from the scene. Rabbi Chowdhury Shaon (26) and Md. Kaiser Chowdhury arrested two people. Victim Mahbub was rescued injured. At the same time, mobiles, wallets and Tk 36,000 and cash ransom of Tk 2 lakh were recovered. Attempts are being made to arrest the rest of the accused.
