An Egyptian court has sentenced 10 people to death and sentenced more than 50 others to life in prison for sabotage targeting security forces and government installations. According to a Reuters report, the convicts have been charged with assault and sabotage against security forces in the capital, Cairo, between 2013 and 2015. The Muslim Brotherhood, a banned organization in present-day Egypt, was involved. The court sentenced more than two hundred people in Tuesday's verdict. The international human rights group Amnesty International has called the verdict "extremely unjust" and called for the sentence to be overturned. Egypt's military has cracked down on the Muslim Brotherhood since ousting Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in 2013. This is one of the biggest repressions against the group in the history of modern Egypt. In January this year, the court sent a letter to the Grand Mufti, Egypt's highest religious authority, approving the death sentences of the accused identified by the Muslim Brotherhood.
