Sanju Roy, Bogra: A special initiative of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organized a district folk cultural festival in Bogra with various meetings, folk songs and dances. The district Shilpakala Academy organized the festival on Monday afternoon at the Fulbari Academy auditorium in the city. District Cultural Officer Md. Shahadat Hossain presided over the function and Bogra Government Mujibur Rahman Women's College Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Bellal Hossain, eminent poet and writer Tofazzal Hossain Jinnah (poet Shoaib Shahriar), District Education Officer Md. Hazrat Ali and District Children's Affairs Officer Md. Isaac Ali etc. In their speeches, the guests said that folk culture is indeed the mainstream of Bengali culture. At its core is the true identity of the history, tradition and civilization of the abominable Bengal and the Bengalis. Life and nature are the controllers of culture. Basically, agricultural life and rivers have built and controlled the culture of Bengal. The self-sufficient village was the source, nurture and development of the heart of Bengal culture. The identity of Bengal and Bengali is hidden in this village-centric culture. The guests also said that the folk culture of Bengal is a sincere commentary on the joint life of the people of Banga Janapada. This folk culture of Bengal bears witness to a wonderful pattern of harmony, coexistence and friendship. This folk culture was born out of the belief and reform of the primitive inhabitants of Bengal at the beginning of history. The same is true of the culture of the Bengali nation as it has developed from the blood of different peoples. Bengali folk culture, reminiscent of the distant past, has made the idea of 'unity in diversity' a reality. At the end of the discussion meeting, folk songs and folk dances were performed in the festival.
