Young man jailed in Tangail for forging signatures of UNO and Women's Affairs Officer

Rashed Khan, Tangail: A young man named Johnny (24) has been sentenced to one month imprisonment in Gopalpur, Tangail for disobeying a government order and cheating with maternity allowance. Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Parvez Mallick handed down the sentence in a mobile court on Monday (June 26). The cheater is the son of Manjurul Hossain, a retired headmaster of Johnny Hemnagar Shashimukhi High School. It is learned that three victims from Hemnagar Union, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Parvez Mallick and Women's Affairs Officer Tapsi Sheel went to the Women's Affairs Office for money with a fake signed maternity allowance payment card. The authorities informed the UNO that the cards were not listed in the office registrar. According to the investigation, the fraudster Johnny took a bribe of Tk 6,000 from 25 pregnant women of Hemnagar Union for giving them maternity allowance cards. Unable to issue the card legally, he forged his signature and handed over the fake allowance payment card to them. Johnny was later arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
