Shahjahan Biswas, Manikganj: Traffic congestion at Paturia Ghat has eased after the inauguration of the Padma Bridge. Earlier, the cars were waiting for the ferry to cross. Now the ferries of Paturia-Daulatdia route are waiting for the vehicles. On Sunday (June 26), the busiest Paturia Ghat was found to be completely empty. There is no commotion, no noise. According to the Aricha Regional Office of BIWTC, two days before the launch of the Padma Bridge In the last two days, more than 15,000 vehicles have crossed this water route. That ghat area is completely empty today. Suddenly one or two buses and trucks come and go straight to the ferry. The ferries have to wait for cars at the wharf. A truck driver named Abbas Ali had to wait for two days for the ferry to arrive a week ago. And today I got on the ferry and crossed the river. There was no suffering today. A passenger named Mamun said, ‘I got on the ferry to cross the river. However, it is taking time for the ferry to be full as there is no traffic pressure. The ferry was seen waiting for the car. Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha office DGM Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz said, "About 15,000 vehicles have crossed the Paturia-Daulatdia water route in the last two days due to the closure of Mawa Ghat." However, today the traffic pressure on this route has decreased a lot. Small cars are absolutely rare.
