The achievements of Sheikh Hasina's government in 13 years

News Desk: Bangladesh today is irresistible under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After coming to power in 2009, the current ruling party Awami League-led grand alliance government has been running the country for three consecutive terms. For the third year in a row, almost all indicators of the economy have been enviable. Bangladesh is a role model in the world today in multifaceted development. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday (June 9) presented the proposed budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year in Parliament. A budget of Tk 6 lakh 8 thousand 84 crore has been proposed for the new financial year.

This is the fourth budget of the third consecutive term of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Among the many achievements of the last 13 years of the present government, significant achievements came up in the newly announced proposed budget session. The success stories of the Awami League-led grand alliance government are highlighted below:

1) The great National Parliament has become the focal point of all state activities. 2) The average growth of GDP in the last 13 years was 7.8 percent, which was above 6 percent in FY 2017-2018, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 and exceeded 6 percent in FY 2018-2019. Even during the Kovid period, the GDP growth in the fiscal year 2020-2021 was an enviable 7.94 percent. The average growth rate achieved during the Sixth Five Year Plan period was 7.3 percent and increased to 7.8 percent during the Seventh Five Year Plan period. 3) Implementation of 8th Five Year Plan (2021-2025), Perspective Plan (2021-2041) and Delta Plan-2100. 4) The size of GDP has exceeded from 4 lakh 72 thousand 338 crore to 39 lakh crore. 5) Per capita income increased from 543 US dollars in 2005-2006 fiscal year and now it is 2 thousand 624 US dollars. 6) Inflation is limited to 5 to 6 percent. 6) Poverty rate has come down from 41.5% to 20.5% and extreme poverty rate has come down to 10.5%. 6) Foreign exchange reserves reached 48 billion US dollars (August 23, 2021). 9) The size of the budget has increased 11 times as compared to the financial year 2005-2006. 10) The allocation for the social security sector has increased from Tk 2,505 crore to about Tk 1 lakh crore. 11) Power generation capacity has been increased from 4,900 MW to 25,056 MW. At present, 100% of the population of the country is covered under the 'Sheikh Hasina Initiative, Electricity at Home' program. 12) With the final settlement of legal disputes over the territorial waters of Myanmar and India, a total area of ​​1 lakh 17 thousand 813 sq km including the part of the sea area of ​​Bangladesh, exclusive economic zone and continental shelf in the Bay of Bengal is acquired. The strategy of Sunil Economy has been adopted in the Perspective Plan 2041 to take advantage of this open right to extract the blue water of the sea and its resources. 13) Graduation from low income countries; Passing the final stage of transition from the list of least developed countries to developing countries. 14. The vision of eliminating food deficit by increasing agricultural production in Vision 2021 and making the country self-sufficient in food production has already been achieved as a result of various measures taken by the government. 15. The dream of digital Bangladesh has come true. Union Digital Centers have been set up in 4,550 Union Parishads; The construction of optical fiber at the bottom of the deep sea, installation of Bangabandhu satellite in space, introduction of mobile banking activities, construction of ATM booth of the bank in the upazila town and accessible internet services are now in the reach of people. 18) The launch of Bangabandhu-1 satellite has made it easier to provide internet services. At present about 160 million mobile phones are being used in the country. 18) Successfully achieves the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). 16) Receive SDG Progress Award in recognition of SDG implementation progress. 19) Maternal mortality rate has decreased from 346 in 2005 to 165 now, infant mortality rate under 5 years has decreased from 6 in 2005 to 28 in 2019 and attendance of skilled health workers during childbirth has increased from 15.8% in 2004 to 59% in 2019. 20. At present a significant number of fast-track projects are running in the country. The elevated expressway from Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Karnafuli Tunnel and Dhaka Airport to Kutubkhali near Jatrabari will be launched soon. Completion of several other major projects including Payra Seaport, Matarbari Deep Seaport, Rampal Power Station will add a new dimension to the country's progress. 21. Bangladesh got 111 enclaves of India by exchanging enclaves through land boundary agreement with India. As a result of this agreement, more than 51,000 people from stateless enclaves of 6 years got the opportunity to become citizens of Bangladesh. 22) Successful celebration of Mujibvarsha and the golden jubilee of independence in the presence of guests from home and abroad. 23. The government has succeeded in suppressing terrorism. In this case, the government has adopted a zero tolerance policy. The rate of sabotage in the country has come down a lot as a result of proper initiatives of the law enforcement agencies. 24. The work of establishing 100 special economic zones is in full swing. 25. Unfinished trial of Bangabandhu murder completed and execution of court verdict, trial of war criminals against humanity completed. 26. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also followed the foreign policy introduced by Bangabandhu - "Friendship with all, not enmity with anyone". 26. All the achievements have been possible because the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the helm of Bangladesh.
