4 arrested with fake gold idol in RAB operation in Bogra

Sanju Roy, Bogra: In a raid conducted by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-12) in Bogra's Dupchanchia Upazila, four persons were arrested with fake gold idols from Kholash Madhyapara village around 1:15 pm on Wednesday. They were sent to court on Thursday afternoon in a fraud case. Three fake gold statues were recovered from the detainees during the raid. A CNG-powered autorickshaw, mobile phone and cash were also recovered from their custody. The arrested are Momena Bibi, 35, of Kholash Madhyapara village in Dupchanchia, Shahidul Islam, 48, of Islampur village in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram, who is currently a resident of Kholsha Madhyapara village in Dupchanchia upazila and Abdur Rashid, 60, of Taluch village in Dupchanchia. This information was confirmed by the company commander (assistant superintendent of police) of Bogra RAB camp Md. Nazrul Islam. He said four people, including a fake gold idol, were arrested in a sting operation. During preliminary interrogation, the detainees admitted that they had been deceiving the public with fake gold statues for a long time. They also cheat with different types of idols. In this way they took a large amount of money. The four arrested have been handed over to Dupchanchia police station in Bogra. In this regard, Dupchanchia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said, RAB arrested four persons with fake gold idols and handed them over to the police station. A case of fraud has been filed against the arrested persons and they have been sent to the court.
