Life sentence of two youths in drug case in Naogaon

News Desk: A court has sentenced two youths to life imprisonment in a drug case in Naogaon. At the same time, each of them was fined Rs 50,000 and sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment for non-payment. Judge Hasan Mahmudul Islam of Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court-2 pronounced the verdict at 12 noon on Tuesday (June 6). The accused are Jewel Rana, 21, son of Saidur Rahman of Mollapara village in Narendrapur of Shahjahanpur union of Chapainawabganj district and Babu, 20, son of Amir Hossain of the same village. According to the summary of the case, on August 29, 2021, he was coming to Naogaon from Chapainawabganj on a motorcycle with the intention of selling 225 grams of heroin in a fancy way inside the ear filter of the motorcycle. On the way, a patrol team of Naogaon Narcotics Control Department signaled to stop the motorcycle at Jaluapara of Saraigachhi in Porsha upazila of Naogaon and they tried to flee leaving the motorcycle behind. He later chased them and arrested them. At that time, the police seized 225 grams of heroin hidden inside the motorcycle in a fancy manner. A case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act at the concerned police station. The order was issued by the judge after the hearing of both the parties in this court for the trial of the case.
